wearing a morphing space
Working with a collection of digital images of my whole life as a source, I generated materials and shapes to develop fashion objects. A data base documenting places, objects, animals, and other elements of the environment that I transited and interacted with during my life. This digital archive can be understood as a resume of the documentation of my path on earth from a first-person perspective. Moments of my life captured through the years, a digital expression of my fear to forget, a digital visualization of the ever-changing space that I discover by moving in time.
I created a deep dream video from this archive using machine learning as a tool. I transferred the obtained video into a texture, a morphing surface. By 3D scanning my body, I use this digital material to “dress” a digital representation of myself (avatar of my body and video footage of myself moving in space).
The result is digital clothing made by documentation of my history and the spaces I transited. In the digital world, this material morphs my body, changing its shape constantly without stopping in any final position. As a reflection of our lives, the space and our interactions form us as individuals. In this digital world, fashion works as a medium to display, abstractly and artistically, the shape of our past, wrapping, discovering and defining new aesthetic visions of ourselves.
